IGS – Institute for Global Studies attaches particular importance to the study and constant updating of analysis techniques and methodologies, basic and structured, employed for the conduct of its activities.
In this perspective, in 2012, IGS developed its own conceptual methodology of proprietary analysis, called Integrated Political Risk Analysis (IPRA), aimed at harmonizing the parameters used for the collection and processing of various indicators selected for the elaboration of analysis and scenarios.
The criteria adopted in the formulation of IPRA represent the product of a conceptual elaboration resulting from the combination of different analysis methodologies traditionally expressed by the experience of the Institute’s staff. In particular, the IPRA methodology is built on an almost equivalent combination of elements derived from the most advanced military, economic, and political methodologies, harmonizing them into a unitary matrix intended to provide homogeneous and comparable evaluation parameters.
Particular interest is then devoted to the study of predictive models, and methodologies for the construction of predictive scenarios, through collaborations with third-party entities and organizations with which the calibration of basic algorithms is shared on joint projects.
Alongside the conduct of analysis activities is a traditional research program on topics periodically selected by the Advisory Board and the Management Committee, thus contributing to the production of documents useful for the general understanding of political, economic, and social development dynamics of interest for analysis.
Research activities focus primarily on the study of political systems and ideological matrices, economic and industrial models, social and cultural dynamics, military apparatuses and strategic concepts, criminal and terrorist organizations in the specific areas of interest of the Institute, or directly related to them.
Research activities are carried out individually by individual researchers or through collaboration programs with third-party entities and institutes, prioritizing the development of synergies with entities located in Countries of direct interest, aiming to facilitate access and validation of sources and document processing.
