IGS – Institute for Global Studies is an independent research center established in 2005 with headquarters in Rome and Brussels, whose main purpose is to provide momentum for high-profile analytical and contextual research in the fields of international politics and security.
The Institute’s research and analysis activities are mainly conducted in the field, with a criterion of geographical specialization located in areas of proximity and immediate interest to Italy. In this way, the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Middle East represent the primary geographical areas of monitoring, research, and analysis, focusing on the deepening of the political and economic dynamics most relevant to the evaluation of Italian national interest.
Coordination of activities and dissemination are instead managed through the offices in Rome and Brussels, where the calendar of conferences, seminars, and meetings organized by the Institute is planned and managed.
IGS continuously participates in and promotes joint research programs, especially those organized with entities and research centers located in the specific geographical areas of interest to the Institute.
IGS is explicitly apolitical, without any ideological or religious orientation, entirely private, and managed solely through the proceeds from research, consulting, educational, and editorial activities. The Institute’s clients are both institutional (government agencies, public administration) and private (industry, commerce, consulting and professional studies, media).
The main mission of IGS is to conduct research and analysis on the key factors related to the evolution of politics, economy, and security in its areas of geographical interest, constantly producing analyses and evaluation perspectives for internal use or for its clients.
The Institute organizes and manages specialist training programs in collaboration with public and private entities. The uniqueness of IGS training programs lies in the development of strongly characterized theoretical-practical modules and the opportunity to undertake field training periods.
The Institute has established four autonomous research programs within it, aimed at deepening four specific areas of interest through an independent and continuous research and analysis calendar. The areas of interest of the autonomous programs are dedicated to the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East, Sea Politics, Media and Technology (Mediaverse), and the Horn of Africa (Meridian 42).
